Sehr geehrte Mitglieder und Besucher,
heute dürfen wir euch ein ganz spezielles Interview bieten. Aufgrund der neuen Produkte seitens AMD und der Marke ATi haben wir ein Interview mit Herrn Michael Schmid organisiert. Wir freuen uns über diese Chance und danken Herrn Schmid sehr.
Würden Sie bitte sich und Ihr Aufgabenfeld bei AMD vorstellen.
Ich bin Pressesprecher und für alle Produktlinien der Firma AMD und ATI verantwortlich. Meine Hauptaufgabe besteht darin, Journalisten Fragen rund um unsere Firma zu beantworten.
Wie wird sich die ATi-Sparte in Zukunft bei AMD entwickeln bzw. wie wird AMD diese in der Zukunft behandeln im Hinblick auf die weitere Existenz?
ATI ist ein sehr starker Markenname, der auch in Zukunft beibehalten wird. Die Grafiksparte ATI entwickelt sich sehr erfreulich und es gibt keine Bestrebungen von diesem guten Kurs abzuweichen.
Was können Sie uns über Neuerungen im Grafikkartensegment von AMD, z. B. neuen Modellen, berichten?
Mit der HD3800er Serie haben wir hervorragende Produkte in den Markt gebracht. Vor allem das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist derzeit einzigartig im Markt. Durch die Unterstützung von DirectX 10.1 sind die Karten vor allem auch für die Zukunft gerüstet. Bereits im 2. Halbjahr 2008 rechnen wir mit der Verfügbarkeit entsprechender Spiele. Wer dann keine DirectX 10.1 Karte hat, muss wieder in eine neue Grafikkarte investieren.
Wie wir gesehen haben, steht AMD weiter hinter Intel in den Marktanteilen. Was hat AMD vor um diesen Vorsprung von Intel abzubauen?
Wir haben im November eine ganze Reihe an Neuprodukten vorgestellt. Wir hoffen das wir mit diesen wieder Marktanteile von unserem Mitbewerb zurückgewinnen können.
Welche Neuerungen können Sie uns über den neuen Phenom X4 geben? Was sagen Sie dazu, dass dieser in Benchmarks hinter den Intel-Prozessoren liegt?
Bei Benchmarkergebnissen muss man doch sehr vorsichtig sein, vor allem bei syntethischen Benchmarkprogrammen. Es kommt doch vor allem darauf an, was das System im täglichen Betrieb leisten muss und wie energieeffizient der Gesamtrechner ist. Mit einer einzelnen CPU kann niemand etwas anfangen. Mit unserer Spider-Plattform haben wir hier einen sehr guten Ansatz.
Was können wir noch von AMD im Prozessorenmarkt erwarten? Können Sie etwas über neue Modelle berichten?
Leider darf ich über noch nicht vorgestellte Produkte nicht sprechen.

I am responsible press agent and for all product lines of the company AMD and ATI. My major task consists in answering journalists questions all around our company.
How will the ATi section develop in future with AMD or how AMD will treat this in the future in view of the further existence?
ATI is a very strong trade name which will also maintain in future. The graphic section ATI develops very pleasantly and there are no attempts to deviate from this good course.
What can you report to us about innovations in the graphic card segment about AMD, e.g., to new models?
With the HD3800 series we have brought excellent products in the market. Above all, the price / achievement relation is unique nowadays in the market. The cards are prepared by the support of DirectX 10.1 above all also for the future. Already in the 2-nd half-year in 2008 we count on the availability of suitable games. Who has then no DirectX 10.1 graphic card, must invest again in a new graphic card.
As we have seen, AMD stands further behind Intel in the shares of the market. What has to diminish AMD before around this projection of Intel?
We have introduced a whole row in new products in November. We hope we with these again shares of the market of our competition can win back.
Which innovations can you give to us about the new Phenom X4? What do you say to the fact that this lies in Benchmarks behind the Intel processors?
Nevertheless, with Benchmark scores one must be very careful, above all, with syntethic Benchmark programs. Nevertheless, it depends, above all, on what must perform the system in the everyday company and how energy-efficient the whole calculator is. Nobody can start something with a single CPU. Here with our Spider platform we have a very good beginning.
What can we still expect from AMD in the processor market? Can you report something about new models?
Unfortunately, I may not speak about not yet introduced products.
