Hector Ruiz, CEO von AMD, hat heute im indischen Bangalore ein neues Forschungszentrum für AMD Prozessoren eröffnet. Bereits seit 6 Jahren ist AMD in Indien tätig. Dort wurden unter anderem große Teile der K10 Architektur entwickelt.
In Zukunft werden sich die ca. 350 Beschäftigte mit der 45nm Version des K10 für Server (Codename Shanghai) und Desktop (Codename Agena) beschäftigen, welcher mit 6MB statt 2MB L3 Cache ausgerüstet ist und evtl. einige kleine Architekturupdates parat hält (z.B. Speichercontroller).

Momentan beschäftigt man sich in Indien mit der Optimierung des 45nm K10s für die Produktion, die bereits im 2. Quartal 2008 starten soll, damit die Prozessoren in der 2. Jahreshälfte ausgeliefert werden können. Die durch den Neubau freigewordenen Gebäude will AMD für Verwaltung und Marketing Abteilungen nutzen.

Hector Ruiz, CEO of AMD, opened today a new research center for AMD processors in Bangalore (India). AMD are since 2001 in India. There were developed large sections of the K10 architecture.
In the future, the approximately 350 employees, developed the 45nm version of the K10 architecture for servers (code name Shanghai) and desktop (code name Agena), how has 6MB instead of 2MB L3 cache and possibly some small updates for architecture (e.g. memory controller).

Currently, the Indian development team is employed with the optimization of 45nm process K10s for the production, already in 2nd Quarter 2008 start, so that the processors in the second half of that can be delivered. The old building AMD wants to use for administration and marketing departments.
