Neue Grafikkarten kommen fast nur für PCI-Express - aber eben nur fast.

ATI Radeon HD 2400 und HD 2600 sollen demnächst auch für AGP erscheinen. In Japan ist bereits eine GeCube Radeon HD 2400 Pro AGP im Handel aufgetaucht. Sie ist mit 256 MB DDR2-Speicher ausgestattet, bietet DVI- und VGA-Ausgang uns kostet umgerechnet rund 70 Euro (ohne Mehrwertsteuer).

Im August werden weitere ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro und HD 2400 XT Modelle für AGP erwartet. Die ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro und HD 2600 XT sollen im September für AGP folgen.

Preislich werden sie etwas über den Versionen für PCI-Express liegen. Das ist darin begründet, dass ein anderes Platinenlayout genutzt wird. Außerdem muss ein sogenannter Bridge-Chip verwendet werden, der die Umwandlung der Signale (PCIe zu AGP) vornimmt.

Neben GeCube werden entsprechende Modelle auch von Sapphire und PowerColor erwartet.
